About This

  • Phlox is a compact, low plant with clusters of 5-petaled, brightly colored flowers.
  • Phlox is a slow-growing annual that reaches only 10 inches tall and likes full sun.
  • Native to the Pacific Northwest, phlox grows well in temperate climates, especially along the coast. It is very attractive to beneficial insects.
  • In mid to late spring, the dark green needle-like leaves are covered with white petals. The 4-6 inch tall evergreen foliage will spread throughout the summer and will grow faster if the plant is trimmed after flowering.
  • Begin early flowering outside after danger of spring frost has passed, or indoors 4-6 weeks before departure. Cover the seeds lightly and keep moist. Germination usually occurs within 21 days when temperatures are between 65 – 70F.
